diandtom,
Great looking Waco, now that I am retired I will be building mine after my current project. I have had my 1/5 Pica kit up in my rafters for 5+ years. I am glad you took the time to repair it, looks brand new.
P.S. I have the manual if you need a copy.
Oh yeah, great looking G-Bee also.

As most of you already know, I don't know very much about models, building and etc, so I have to look everything up on Google
I found this about the Waco Hangar: WACO YMF which was rather interesting to me, and also this
The only bi-Planes I have flown, with the exception of the little Air Hogs, is a Pitt on my cheap simulator
I really admire you guys for your model building and I know it must give you great pleasure in building something that will fly.
Ron

Thanks Ron, great video's.
You would be suprised how much easier a larger top wing trainer with aileron's is to fly vs the small electric models, (90% of them). I am 62 and I have fiends building and flying well into there 70's and a few members in there 80's and 1 that is 91. Just find your local flying field and go out a take a look see and speak with some members. One of the fastest way's to find the local field is go into a local hobby shop, they will tell you. There are alot of affordable ARF airplanes and people willing to help you, and if you want to learn how build there are easy projects to learn with.
Have fun Ron.

Del,
I have several RC friends that have been into building models and I enjoy seeing their finished products, and listening to there stories of flying and building.
One of my friends goes to a private flying field, I have used it a couple of times early in the morning before the regular crowd gets there.
One morning when I was first trying to fly my Hobbyzone Phantom, an older gentleman told me to put that piece of junk away and he would let me fly his trainer
He had a Cadet that he had built, and after he had got it airborne plenty high, he handed me the control and said fly. I did and like you say, the high wing aircraft was much easier to fly. I flew it around in several circuits until I got nervous and had to give the control back to him.
Several times since then, he has brought the Cadet to my Astronomy Club's viewing site and let me fly it when he gets it up real high.
A real quick story about this guy and some of his ventures over the years. I really enjoy listening to him tell of his experiences. He has been building models for quite a few years, even J-3 Cubs that you actually fly in. He has one now that is a 3/4, single seat, that he flies around in on occasion. He has a very interesting story about one of the planes he built, sold it, and flew it up to New England some place, to the peope who bought the plane. This guy is quite a character, no formal engineering education, but can build airplanes that you can actually fly

Ron,
Like your friend that flys full scale I have a very close friend that I met in my club 20 years ago. He is a very interesting and very nice person. He used to drive an old 1984 Toyota van to the field to carry his models and he would pull out the most beautiful Bob Violet jets, ($10,000 to $25,000 models) that were musem pieces that he built. (Bob Violet models are considered the best jets period but expensive). After knowing him for 2 years I just thought that he drove the old van because he spent all of his money on Jets....Well after 2 years of flying together he asked me if I would like to go for a ride in his P51 Mustang..yeah the real thing. It turns out that he is one of the best Orthapedic Suregeons in the United States and is very wealthy and drove the old van because he liked it. His name is Dr. Kendall Wagoner and he flys his Mustang to Oshkosh every year. He is as nice of person as you would meet and would help you with anything.
Just like RVing you meet very nice people in the hobby.

The Waco is needing a touch up now. I covered it the last time with Coverite Century 21 and after four years the finish has gone bad. I think I am going to touch up the bad places and do a clear coat on the whole plane. Anybody tried this and know if it will work?

Did you paint the coverite? If you used colored Coverite and it faded you might want to repaint the entire model. If weight is a concern you might want to Monocote it, I have a 10 year old Carl Golberg Bucker that is covered in Monocoat and the finish has not faded and still looks great. In my opnion your Waco is a special airplane, by that I mean all wood construction, classic design, and hand crafted. If it were mine I would gladly spend the time restoring it to new condition no matter which way you do it.
From you photos it looks like it would be well worth the time and $.

The Coverite centry 21 came panted. The white has bare spots. The plane was blue before the crash and was painted and had a clear coat. It was several years old when it crashed. The problem that caused the crash was I had changed the battery as it was several years old. The new battery weighted half of what the old battery did and was as far forward as I could get it. If you do anything that may change the CG be sure to check it. Too heavy nose ok but too heavy tail you asking for a crash.

How do you decide what to take with you when you go camping?
I haven't gotten into boating or cars yet, probably never will, my learning curve on RC airplanes has been quite steeeeeeeep
Is the slow stick on pontoons a 3 channel or 4? I live on a small lake but not about to attempt anything with pontoons. I have a hard time just trying to land and take off on land.
Nice collection of videos, thanks for sharing.

Ran into a couple this weekend that had little 6" or so helicopters. Small enough to fly inside MH. Gotta get me one.
