My home is small but i have a small area up front across from the Kitchen that i can use to put up a small model railroad. Anyone else like railroads? I have only seen one who did, Just wondering if there was any others?

I have several A.C. Gilbert "S" gauge cars and two steam engines. Had most of them since late 40's and early 50's. The tracks all rusty(like me). Kids don't want them; so I guess hello Ebay.

Yes x2 (both DH & me). We've got several N-gauge sets that've been in storage for a while. We hope to clear space (someday, right now, full of too much other stuff) in the basement to get them set back up again.
I covet my brother's American Flyer set from the 1950's. Love that steam locomotive!

I've been a railroad lover for most of my life. They are not being enjoyed now, but I have N scale and HO scale stuff as well as some really old Lionel O gauge equipment. Lately however, I get my railroad fix from rail fanning, riding trains around the country and reading railroad related magazines. We use the rig to take us to railroad stuff around the country.

One thing to remember is shier winds!! I lost my first one with them! Am working on a new one right now. All N scale and on a small board,(29X48). This time Ile bolt the thing down!!
I know a guy that had a HO scale in the front basement of there motorhome and they had the bell and whistle sounds from steam engine! Way cool!! I have also gone train rail fanning as well. I am from West Virginia and have been on the Cass Railroad. And one out this way in Colorado. The Rio Grande. Hope to get a ride on the grand canyon rr maybe next year. It gives me something to do while waiting for the doctors to make up there minds as to how and fix me. As i can i am enjoying both the model and the real thing!
Enjoy, Dan

Us too, several times. I just love (& so does DH) the sound & smell of those old steam engines! We've also ridden the New Tygart Flyer, the Durbin Rocket & the Cheat Mountain Salamander. WV has some very nice train excursions through beautiful country.

Yep..they have some very beautiful views back that way. I lived in a little mining town called Rupert and haven't been there in 29-30 years now. I have been back to some of the northern parts of WV as my Brother is living up that way. Once i can figure out how i want to set the layout up with track plan i can take a shot of it. I have heard of others making a shelf switching yard with a 3-4 foot by say 12 inches. N and Z scale make it really easy to make a layout out of such a small footprint. I have the best of all worlds..Camping/RVing, Fishing and Rail Roading. May your live be that full and fun!!

I have two N-scale layouts, both WAY too big to fit in the RV. Would love to have one on the road, but really can't justify the space needed to make a good layout.

When the boys were young we had a big setup in the basement that was provided by my father-in-law who spent 37 years as an engineer on the NY Susquehanna and Western RR. My boys grew up with rides on the big engine with 'Pop pop'.
If you are ever in central NJ, you have to stop at Northlandz which is the largest model RR setup in the world. It is amazing how you can go from room to room to room and see the most detailed setup you can imagine.

You notice that the Grandkids get all the great toys?
Nice setup.

I have N scale and DBF has G scale - we are the extremes
There is an N Scale modular set-up called T-track, and the individual modules are about the size of a sheet of letter size paper in area. It's made with Kato track and if you follow the standards, interchangeable with other enthusiasts. I have a couple of complete modules and the stuff to make a couple more and belong to a club where most of the members have modules as well.

Well mine only partially exists nowadays. The grades cost me too much in motors so all that's left is bench work. I plan to rebuild again this coming year now that the mods to the RV are finished. This new layout will be DCC so wiring will be less complex.
All equipment (track; locos; cars and everything) are HO and I'm in too deep to change now.
Cheers
Willey
