Police dispatcher for 25 years.. We got First Responder and CPR training, I also got AED cert from Church (If the body is dead it's too late to save the soul so let's save the body first).
We are also trained to give CPR lessons in "Crash Mode" By phone.. I've only had to do that once, and it was too late to start with.. (Though it made a whole bunch of living feel better, and I can handle the emotional baggage).
I also kind of assisted (by relieving someone better trained than I) on another one.. She is an EMT instructor and when the phone call taker in front of me stood up and hollered "THE BABY's TURNING BLUE" I knew she would need relief so I finished the call I was on, went out of service and went over to cover her radio while she took the call.. After the Sgt played the tape.
you know a baby crying is the sweetest sound in the world cause one thing we all know... If it's crying, it is not turning blue any more, but pinking up nicely.
