Good timing. I just took my only granddaughter, age 8, camping on Toledo Bend for two nights with intent of teaching her to fish.
She learned to cast her little Barbie reel in a matter of minutes and caught her first fish. A 3" bream. Scared her to death. Barely got her still long enough to take a picture. Worth every second. Click image for larger version

Further north. Northern Ontario, Canada. We are just 20 minutes from the border. Can't beat the fishing up here.

Bank fishing - Cheboygan, MI

Camped at Waterways Campground in Cheboygan, MI. Fishing throughout June was terrible due to the plethora of late Mayflies, but improved by August. Fishing from the docks and shore in the Cheboygan River right by the campground was never good. But up in downtown Cheboygan by the park just south of the ferry docks, fishing was pretty good for bream. It was also pretty good just above and below the dam that bypasses the locks. With 4, 6, and 8 year old grandkids fishing with me, I didn't get to do too much of my own fishing. They would catch with my pole while I baited, untangled, or removed fish from theirs. Great times......

Sacramento river will have spawning runs of salmon, steelhead, striped bass, sturgeon, shad, or others depending upon the time of year.

We fish the Texas gulf coast at Corpus Christi 4 times a year for 2 weeks at a time. Catch Red and Black Drum, Spanish Mackerel, Pompano, Sharks, Flounder, Sand and Speckled Trout, Sheep Head and smaller stuff. We fish Packery Channel, Bob Hall pier, the jetties and the lake. We also catch Blue Crabs using the old chicken leg and string method.

We have 5.5 and 2.5 cu freezers in the MH and usually fill them.

1 days catch of Sheep Head most are 20 to 22 inches. and a 26inch Red Drum.
