The large cent was found 1/4 mile from our house in a farmers field on the way back to the car after we had spent 2 hours on the hillside where "there used to be a town" . . . .not so. If there had been a town there, there would have SOME indication, nails, hinges, etc, but found NOTHING. That was the 2nd time we had used the detector, we were excited, and though, "We're going to find LOT's of OLD coins!" Nope, that's the oldest coin we've found! Was really cool though!
That is an OLD coin for a second hunt. That could definitely skew your expectations. My oldest coin is a Chinese Shan-Lung coin. Found it last year at an old gold mining camp in Nevada. It dates from the 1790's.
I'd been detecting for almost 20 years when I found it. So, I didn't get nearly as good of a start as you

The Chinese coin would be really cool! Did you have any difficulty identifying it?
