We have the thread on favorite knife. A fellow there mentioned one that belonged to his father. Got me teary-eyed. So.....
What is one of your favorite "tools" (or such) that your "father" (mom in another thread) owned and you now own.
Mine is a claw hammer. On the side of the head is stamped 'PEXTO'.
I believe that to be the manufacturer. Even though I got it long before he died (he got a new tool set for Christmas one year), every time I see or use it, it brings back memories of growing up on the ranch. Picture from somebody's ebay auction.
I pounded (and removed) a million nails with it. Putting up wire so the cows would stay in the field, building barns, sheds and dog houses, and especially building "forts and club houses" with the left-over wood. (excuse me for a moment, I need a tissue)
When he passed on, I received the 1935 Model 37 12 gage Winchester shotgun that belonged to his father. I grew up with that gun also. I shot many a cotton-tail rabbitt for supper. (had to keep the rabbitt population down because they loved to eat the crops of alfalfa, and they breed like.....well....rabbitts ).
I'd put a photo of it here too, but that might cause a backlash.

I have one of my grandmother's kitchen knives. It has a wooden handle and it's not very fancy. It's been run through a sharpener hundreds of times perhaps and the edge has lost some of its original character.
The granny knife has a home in our kitchen drawer and every time I see it, it's like my mind goes back 50 years into the past to that warm smile and glass of milk and butter cookies right before bedtime .....

I have a Craftsman jigsaw from my dad that is almost as old as I am. I have only used it once in the almost 40 years that I have owned it but can't bear to part with it. Also have my grandfather's Sears-Roebuck bolt action .410, have absolutely no use for it but what the heck.

I got all my dad's shootin' irons (14 of em), but thats a taboo subject.
Not a tool, but I have my dad's desk from his ham shack. I have pictures of him sitting at that desk as a young man from way back before he even met my mom. Every time I sit at that desk, I think of him.

I have my grandmothers cotton wrapped "wicker" high backed rocker and table. I also have an oak straight leg table chair that my Mom "antiqued" when I was a teen. She was so proud of what she had done. And, it is so ugly today. But, I won't let my wife do anything to it. They are my "Wayback" machines.

I have my dads half inch Milwaukee drill that he had in the 40's. In its prime it would rip your arm off if you weren't ready. Of course double insulated wasnt even a thought then. Parts aren't available any more and the distribution center says they would love to have it.

I have my great-great granddad's axe that he brought over from the old country. Its had a new handle recently, and one day the head flew off into the lake, so that's been replaced too. But its still my great-great granddad's axe!

My brother has my dad's tool box with the 50 year old adjustable wrench and the blade screwdriver with the bent shaft, among other antique tools that bring back so many memories. My brother also has dad's military memorabilia and I always liked handling them in memory of dad's time in WW2. All I have is my brother. But I think I've almost got him convinced that mom rented him for me when the dog died.

A lot of Dad's tools. Had his `66 Mustang till the resto-mod got to be too much work. Mom's sewing machine, plus the 1913 Singer they found in the attic at their last house. That thing will sew through just about anything. Dad's BB gun and tube type CB radio. Some of Mom's mixing bowls and kitchen ware. Their silver set that went in my MH and a lot more items, none of which I would call my favorite, but useful items.

Have some of my Dad's old tools, but one of my favorite things is his old motorcycle hat, pictures of him wearing it, sitting on his Harley back in the 1930s. It has all his AMA pins on it.
He was a charter member of the American Motorcycle Assoc, and his AMA member number is 3 digits.
