Traveling with houseplants

I was wondering how people travel with houseplants. I have about 8 that must come with us this coming winter. The Plant sitter keeps over-watering and I've replaced these particular ones twice. This time they're coming with us for the winter, though I had hoped I wouldn't need to take so many. They will also brighten up the front window in the coach and when warm enough in Ocala, the area under the awning.

Do you put them in totes? Cartons? What's the safest way when on the road with them so they're not broken? I'd like some ideas. Thanks.

The wife carries them in their original containers. She lines the shower area with towels and they sit on the floor in the shower until we arrive at our destination. Haven't broken or damaged one yet.
Where do we take a shower? Well, traveling in the winter don't allow that anyway in the coach so when we're at the Flying J's we use a shower there.

We also put ours in the shower. We only have one overnight when going to Florida from Tennessee so we skip the shower.

Unfortunately the cat's litter tote is in the shower but I may be able to find another place for it. Thanks for the suggestions.

Traveling with houseplants

Leave the cat.... Plants are far easier to care for.... On the other hand, the plants may fair better with the plant sitter than they will with the cat... lol

We are fortunate in that our cats grew up with plants so leave them alone.

My wife collects succulents and cacti. We discovered while shopping at Yankee Candle that they use cardboard crates that look like cartons for giant eggs (6). We put the cardboard in the bottom of a plastic box and use rubber mat material for the little trays that go under the pots.

I would not try to bring plants into California. Friends had some begonias and geraniums and had to dump the plants and dirt, but were able to keep the ceramic pots.

I raise herbs as we travel. We use a miracle grow aero garden which automatically gives the plants the right amount of water ,sunlight, and nutrients as we travel. It sits in the shower as we travel.

DW has used the shower, kitchen sink, and the toad. Every couple of nights she gets them all out for a watering and a little, sunlight.
