Glad this thread came about, it got me thinking about that Spyderco and until I dug it out I didn't realize how much I liked it. Don't know why, it's pretty plain jane but there's just something about it. Alas, it's discontinued. Hope I never lose it. Here it is, mine has a smooth blade.

I haven't been without a Trim Trio since I bought one when I went into the Army in 1966. Nail file, screw driver, nail cleaner that can be used to snug up Phillips head screws, knife, important bottle opener and very slim. I sharpen it so I can shave with it.

Trim Trio

40 year old Buck Ranger and $3.00 Chinese "swiss army knife". I don't like Chinese products but that was the best $3.00 I ever spent.

They are pretty handy. I feel lost without one. I thought I lost one, but I left it in some pants that went thru the washer without damage.

I was raised that a man should always have a knife in his pocket. For maybe fifteen years now, I've been carrying this A.G. Russell custom one hand opener - stainless body, mammoth ivory scales and hand forged Damascus blade with very hard carbon steel core that will take and hold an edge. I use it for just about everything, from opening packages to cleaning thousands of birds to processing deer.

The exception is that when the dogs and I are in the field many miles from civilization, I also carry a Leatherman tool, which has come in handy for things like pulling porcupine quills and cactus spines with the little pliers, opening cans, fixing things afield, etc. It is no substitute for a really good knife, but it does things you can't do with any knife.

I carry a Leatherman super tool. My son gave it to me about 15 years ago. One of the best presents i've ever gotten.

When I'm home, in the RV, I generally have a small spring assist Kershaw clipped to my pocket. At work, aboard ship, I keep a Leatherman XT and a Myerchin knife on my belt.

I also have a very old US Navy bosun's knife in the RV, but don't often wear it.

That is illegal to carry in WA state along with others. In fact any spring opened knife or even one that opens by gravity or wrist flick is illegal here. Trying to get the law changed so at least those of us with a concealed pistol license can carry them, the bill didn't pass this session though.
