I have a 1994 Winn Vectra with the Cummins 230 hp engine. There is an air valve which operates the dash-air vent controls and it does the job. But, that air valve, which has 3 hose ports, one of which goes to the dash-air controls, is leaking a lot of air out one of the unused outlet ports. If I put my finger over that port, it blows the air line going to the dash-air control off. Any ideas about how this valve works or why it may be leaking air out of the unused port (or, is that port suppose to be used for something)? I could send a picture. Thank you.

the valve you are talking about generates vacuum from your air system to operate your heater controls. sounds like it is working fine.

Thanks Myrons for the response. I thought it may be a vacuum generator. But, it is draining my air tank after shut down. The valve continues to blow air out the unused port until my storage air tank is empty. Surely, this is not right? Any thoughts? Thank you.

on my spartan chassis i have an air pressure protection valve on my system #2 tank that shuts the air off if and when the pressure drops below 70 psig. it is to make sure you have air to operate the brake system. on start up i have a minimum of 70 psi. in the tank and takes very little time to fill the air bags. the valve in question is screwed into the tank and the other lines feed off of it. mine is made by holland neway and did fail causing the problem you describe
