1999 American eagle Looking to replace air dryer

Hello everyone I have been gone for a while. Nothing to fix until now. I am looking to possibly replace my haldex/midland air dryer and was wondering about a good replacement. Thanks in advance. John

Had mine replaced last summer.

Pretty sure the heavy truck shop just replaced the original with the current model.

You should be able to pick one up at any OEM heavy truck dealer or truck type parts store. Yours, same as mine has a Haldex brand. This is still available and is a good piece. Easier to just purchase another so all mounting bracket and lines/fittings will just swap over.

There's a kit to rebuild them if your up to it....

The Halidex rebuild kit is easy to do, if your handy with tools. Just rebuilt mine last week out of necessity. Lower valve was sticking open from the grains of desiccant from the cartridge, causing lose of air. Ended up being a roadside repair.

A critical operation is cleaning the entire air dryer well. Even a small amount of dirt dropped into the dryer body when removing the filter will cause problems later.
Run your MH rears up on 6" solid wood ramps before you drain all air pressure to give you elbow room underneath.
You don't need to remove the entire Halidex dryer, the instructions with the new filter should describe how to remove 2 of the 3 mounting bolts so you may pivot the unit inboard, after removing the air lines, enough to replace the filter and install the rebuild kit.
FWIW, when I did mine, after I had it apart I discovered I didn't need a kit, I just needed to clean everything and replace.
That's also when I discovered my discussant filter was the original___. Previous owner had never changed the filter in 12 years (it was stored for 8)
