Just wondering if anyone can give me a rough $$ amount Spartan charges for a typical 24 month service? We have a MM chassis for an 05 Dutch Star (4009) with only 15K miles (we planning on a LOT more miles by next year!) I had the oil and filters changed at 12 & 24 months by Camping World. We're at Camp Newmar and plan to make our first trip to Spartan to have things checked out and get service. Just wondering - I realize I'll have to pay the price, but want to be prepared to "pay the piper." Thanks for your input.

Oparon, I don't know if anyone can give a one price fits all answer to your question. I had my coach serviced a Spartan in Charlotte back in Aug of '06. It cost about $650 back then. But, I also provided my own stock of synthetic fluids for the oil and transmission. They were very easy to work with. They go over a check list with you before anything is done. You won't be given any last minute surprises unless there is a major problem that wasn't diagnosed earlier. I hope this helps a little. Good luck.

"Full service" at 17,500 mi. on our 05 DSDP ran $1400 this March - included all fluids, filters, lubes, whatever Spartan suggested - we consider it a very good investment and done by the best service team that I have experienced in vehicle maintenance.

Bill & Bontemp,
Thanks for the quick "comeback" (which is why I love this site!) I just wanted to prepare myself for any sticker shock that may occur.

I read a lot on this site about guys doing their own PM. Now I can see why. But, that's the price I have to pay for not being a "do it yourself" kind of guy. I guess if I had a permanent place to park and all the right tools, I could do in a week what Spartan will do in a day. As they say, "time is money." Unfortunately for me, I have more time than money!

OpaRon, we have a 2000 DSDP so the prices may not fit your 2005 DSDP, but I went back to my records to give you some info. First, let me say that we have usually had our annual maintenance done wherever we are on the road at the time, which is usually in the Sept/Oct time frame. However, we have always managed to put the Spartan factory in Charlotte, MI in our path for the every 24 month service. For us that was the even years, 02, 04, 06, and we'll be coming back from the NW this year so we'll stop there in 08 for the 24 month service.

Here's what I can tell you from my records:

* last annual maintenance was done at a Cummins Coach Care in Ocala, FL for $352.

* the 2006 24-month service done at the Spartan factory cost $1462.48. Let me mention that I have for eight years followed the Spartan chart for maintenance.

* in spring 2005 we went by Spartan on the way west to put new tires on. Got six new tires for $2400 (Michelin XZA3s).

Hope that helps. I post RV expenses on our website. You can find the link on the Main Menu page at http://www.roamingamerica.com/mainmenu.html
