Anybody know what air pressure should be in the airbag/bump stops fitted to a 93 Gulfstream Sunvoyager(spartan).

I was wondering why I got no reply to this query. Then I searched the internet for a look at Spartan chassis and I find no such type bump stops and I am thinking perhaps the inflatable bump stops fitted to my 93 spartan chassis are aftermarket add ons. They consist of an airbag sitting atop the leaf spring cushioning it from contact with the chassis leg. There is a plastic tube from each bump stop to outer bodywork lower edge with an airvalve on the end. These can be inflated by a footpump I presume. What chassis did spartan use in 93,was it a K2 or something else?

Hi Nomad100,
I've not heard of what you are inquiring about. Consider contacting Spartan with your vin #. Their number is at Spartan Chassis | Everything's Riding On It.

Doesn't sound like a Spartan install, probably an aftermarket like Air Lift.

What you describe sounds like air leveling bags like ones that would be used on the rear of a pickup truck to haul heavy loads. If that's what they are they could be manufactured by Air Lift, Firestone and surely others. They were on a one-ton truck I had a few years ago and if memory is correct they could be inflated to a max. of 80 psi. The instructions said to always have a min. of 10 psi. Between 10 and 80 they could be pumped up to whatever pressure it took to level or lift a sagging suspension. The ones I had were Air Lift. Hope this helps you.

It does sound like an aftermatket kit such as those we sell. Here's a look at some of the kits we offer and what many look like.

To answer your question though, the pressure you run will vary depend on the ride you are looking for and how much weight you are carrying. At a minimum you should maintain 5 psi and a maximum of 100 psi. The min is there to make sure the bag isn't being pulled apart and keeps everything in place. Typically I see most people run anywhere from 15 psi to 40 depending on conditions.

Once again folks you have have done us proud. They are definitely air bags fitted as after market extras. You were all correct and now i have inflated them to 30psi all round to see how it feels on the road. They are the airlifter 5000 type and although now 17 years old seem to be good as new and holding pressure.cant be a bad to that!

Thanks again forum,much obliged.

Nomad.
