I have a 93 Beaver Patriot/Spartan Chassis. I have an air leak up front behind the inspection panel which I have traced to what looks like a vacuum valve that has several small vacuum hoses connected to it.

The air leaks out the top hose that makes a 180 degree bend and just ends in the down position. Maybe this is some kind of moisture drain? Anyway, it leaks air pressure for about 5 seconds, then stops for about 10 seconds, then leaks air again for 5 seconds and repeats this while the coach is running.

If I move the heat control all the way to the right calling for heat the air leak stops. Is this something I should be concerned about? I will try to post a picture of the area.

Well, I don't know how to post a picture but if someone could e-mail me I can send them the picture.

Thanks, Bob F. BMsuper@optonline.net

there is a vaccumm generator with no moving parts that supplies vaccumm for the heater controls. that may be what you are hearing. it works with air pressure.

it is a venturi. a stream of high pressure air blows through a small opening into a larger cavity creating a suction. just like a paint sprayer. my 95 patriot has one on the front panel beside the heater and air cond assy. most heater controls run on vaccum and a diesel has none. hope this helps.

Myrons:

I believe you are right. I know the item that
looks like a sphere is a vacuum canister I just didn't know why there would be an air pressure relief of some sort there. Your explanation clears that up.

Thank you, These forums are the best thing since sliced bread.
