Checking my transmission maint sched. Can I assume that all Spartans use 100% TranSynd?

If so, maintenance is fairly light outside of checking fluid level.

My coach has Transynd. Yours should to. Do the first filter replacement per the manual. Mine was at 5K miles. About 2 quarts of fluid will be lost. After that, enjoy.

The 5K change has been dropped - check the latest Allison guide for info.

My manual says 75,000/36 before any maintenance. That is unless an error code comes up. Am I reading this right?

I agree if we have Transynd.

The answer is probably yes because that's the limits for new trannys running Transynd with high capacity filter. See page 7 of the link I gave above to see how the 75.000/36 month works. To be sure look at first page displayed in the link I gave and check to see if your tranny SN falls into range covered.

Don't know if they continued to do it but, on my 2002 Spartan chasis, the dip stick for the transmission is marked for the transmission oil type. The marking is down near the "add oil" markings. I was told at the Spartan chassis service I take it to (Cummins South) that the transynd would also be marked on the stick. Might be worth looking for.

How do I find my tranny number without crawling around under the rig? My coach was built last March/April or so. Can I assume I don't need that 5000K filter change?

The serial number for the trans and engine is on the Spartan chassis label along with the VIN, GVWR, etc.

The label on my DSDP is near the drivers seat.

If your trans serial number is above the ones listed on the Allison web site, then the 5K filter change no longer applies.

No, that's an extreme risk to not being in warranty. The SN is on label behind seat of you could call Spartan with VIN and get it as well as probably coverage. You'll be close since the unit I took delivery on in April had chassis built in November and did require the 5k change.

Just spoke w/Spartan who will be doing my 5,000 mile maintenance on the whole coach.

They said that they still need to top off at 5,000 miles but, not change. I think that is what GaryKD was saying.
