While in North Carolina I parked and used the auto leveling system which is essentially pressing a button two times. It dumps and then levels. Worked great the first several times I used it.
However, this time it dumped and started to level. I got caught in a conversation and looked over to see the front tires were way off the ground, the front end was obviously way above level and jacks did not shut down. Very scary looking.
I bolted into the coach and turned them off. Had to level manually. Now, what I believe to be the jack motor, makes a really loud noise when leveling either manually or automatically. However, it does work.
Automatic is all screwed up so I do it manually w/a 4' level across the kitchen floor on the cereamic tile.
Any ideas? Haven't had it to the dealer. I'm going to limp along on this trip and get it repaired later.

Javajelly;
I have an 02 with HWH 610 auto leveling system and the only problem I've had was a faulty keypad which HWH sent to me and I installed it.
Question??? And I would be interested to see other replys.
Where in the manuals does it say you may leave rig when auto leveling?? I never read it and wouldn't do it. As you experienced, anything can mal-function.
I always turn on jacks, one touch, so no extension, while rig is running, to get most level spot on site, the yellow lights on keypad give you this info, when most level spot is ,found i put heavy chocks in front of front tires and behind rear tires, then I level rig with auto mode, then put slides out.
I learned this procedure the hard way, the rig moved forward with rear jacks dowwn and bent shafts, fortunatly, HWH replaced them at no charge.
Hope this info helps and doesn't offend.

Absolutely no offense taken. I normally wouldn't leave the cockpit. I actually went out to see the jacks in action and understand in what order they worked.
Ended up turning my head for polite conversation and Murphy's Law I guess. I'm sure the expression on my face was humorous.

Being a 2007 model, I'm guessing that you probably have the HWH 625 series leveling system. The auto-level sensors can get out of whack but it's not that hard to readjust if you know how. I posted a tutorial in the RV Tech Library showing how to do this. Try the following link, then select "How to fine tune the HWH leveling sensor".

AIME...that's a really great idea about turning on the HWH and then find the spot with fewest yellow lights on...I knew about it but usually forget to do so, since I am in a hurry to get connected

When you say "fewest" yellow lights, I hope you don't get more than 2. I think that would mean your coach is arced, or worse yet, bent somewhere in the middle.

I will use this tip as well.
So now when parking I have to:
Turn on the auto leveler
Make sure the in motion sat is on and tv on
Then while holding my finger on the tag air release, I have to watch the back-up camera, the mirrors, the auto leveler lights, the TV for reception and the sides for Slide Out clearance.
I think I'm ready for a 747

You don't state what type of levelers you have, but I assume they are HWH's. It is possible your hydrallic fluid is low and when lifting as high as you stated the pump sucked in some air. Check your hydrallic level. If there is air in the pumt it should clear itself and return to normal.
The HWH's should automatically shut down (stop) when the jacks reach the far extended cycle. An "excessive travel" light will then light. I usually watch mine as it is leveling and stop it prior to getting to the excessive travel point. I don't worry about lifting the front wheels and at full extension my front wheels will be about 4 inches off the ground. However I need an extra front step to climb in when the front is that high!!
I don't worry about the front, but I will not let the rear wheels lift off the ground. There are two reasons.. .the weight and also if you lift the rear you loose your braking. Your parking brakes are on the rear wheels. If lift the rear wheels and the coach moves while on the jacks... you will have damage.
I find a small bubble level is more practical and easier to use than a four foot level and more than accurate enough! When needed I just put the bubble on a level surface on my dash and when close I then move to my kitchen counter and double check the level. I get the bubble level within one-half bubble and it is well within tolerance for the fridge. This one-half bubble on a 35" foot end-to-end could result in one or two inches which is ok and not noticable to even my critical spouse!! A half-bubble side-to-side is less than 1/2 inch which is within tolerance. Your automatic leveler will not get much closer than one-half to one-third bubble.
Anyway I'm out of ideas at this point but I would try the automatic leveling again.

Thanks much for that. I will check fluid levels. I would be surprised if fluid is low as the coach is brand new. Unless that is normal during break-in.
Will keep the forum updated.
