Bad radiators

We have a 2011 MM chassis. We are getting ready to put in our third radiator, 4th if you count one of them being repaired. Which is why we are putting in the third new one. Techs say that there hasn't been any apparant road damage, just sprung leaks. Spoke with spartan higher ups, no longer under warranty..the last radiator only lasted 8 months before it started to leak..spartan only warrants radiator for 90 days...go figure, a new spartan radiator only has a 90 day warranty. How common is this type of failure....really sours us on a spartan chassis.

Bad radiators

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I see this as a big customer satisfaction issue.
Perhaps Joyce or Tad at ECC can provide advice and assistance!

We had a 2002 Dutch Star on the Spartan chassis, traded it off in Feb of this year. Still had the original radiator in it.
Have you been checking the SCA's and other components of the coolant?

Other than extreme salt exposure or a mounting problem this is way beyond the Norm.
If Spartan supplied your replacement units they should have someone trying to figure out your problem. Motorhome magazine has a Consumer help column that has good sucess. I think it is called Hot line.

finally got home to have a new radiator installed at Cummins. in speaking with the tech, he stated that they have had a few Entegra motorhomes in for radiator fixes, all Spartan chassis'. in their opinion, they have seen to many with "bad" radiators. so we will see if this third radiator holds up.

Got a 12 Rev, MM chassis, really a 11 chassis, and no radiator issue in 36,000 miles. Hope it stays that way.

There are probably around a half a dozen or so people reporting radiator failures on the Entegra forum. Mostly MM but also K3. I'm not seeing any reports of failures from Newmar or Foretravel owners that have a Spartan chassis. Could it be possible that they had a bad batch of radiators which coincidentally got installed in coaches destined for Entegra coaches? I wouldn't think so since the failed radiators are in coaches manufactured over the past 3 years - and even one 2016.

Our first radiator failure on our 2011 chassis happened at 2.5 years, then that one failed at 3 years, and that one failed at 3.5 years. So we will see how many miles we can get on the lastest one..
If this one fails , then someone will be getting a great motorhome with poor quality radiators.

I've got a tail dragger!

As a retired mechanical engineer, one of the things that almost turned me off on the Entegra Aspire was the way the Spartan chassis left the radiator hanging out without protection against dragging on road hazards (sensitive subject because our previous coach, a Tuscany, had the TOAD electrical connector mounted lower than the frame; went through three due to road hazard damage). Even at full ride height, the bottom of the radiator shroud has been scraped multiple times but no physical damage as reported by some owners. I ended up welding two steel skid wheels to the hitch mount that extend about three inches below the radiator shroud and from the scuff marks they are getting a lot of use; makes a weird sound when they get dragged sideways across the pavement during turns. Living in the mountains, I've found at least two intersections with radical angles that put the radiator at risk and were probably the source of the original shroud damage. Aside from this, I think the Spartan is a great chassis

Yep I have the same problem. If the radiator would have been moved up by 3" min. it would have helped.

Is the radiator grounded to the chassis? Most likely it is riding in a rubber "cradle" and is not grounded to the chassis. Try putting a ground strap from the rad to the chassis. Somewhere I heard about the grounding issue
