I am getting tired of the bad ride that we are getting with our '99 American Eagle. The last trip from Southern California just about shook the coash apart. I know we have air ride, so why is my ride so bad. I know the roads in California are not the best but give me a brake. The concreat joints are killer. Maybe we need to look at some new shocks. The coach has almost 50,000 miles. Any deas???

Hi Marty,
There are so many different causes for a harsh ride can you give us the items you have already checked and eliminated? Some items that can cause a hard ride are:
1. tires
1a. out of round
1b. out of balance
1c. running at maximum air PSI
1d. overloaded
2. air bag pressure
3. shocks
4. ride height
5. out of balance for any part that turns (ex. drive shaft)

Have you posted this issue over in the American Coach group on Yahoo? We had a '98 Eagle which is the same as yours except for the engine. The only complaint I had was that it porpoised too much.

Another reason could be an air adjustment valve not functioning properly. On the passenger side of mine, when driving on a rough freeway, which we just happen to have in WA state and also in CA, going over a rough rode, the air would not adjust, so the air bag stays full of air, which causes the front end jackhammer. Replacing the air adjustment valve solved the problem.

Good luck.
