Has anyone found a way to clean their charge air cooler? I have "cleaned" my radiator with Simple Green and a strong stream of water from a hose after blowing it out with the air compressor. I did this to the CAC as well but I can't get to all areas of the CAC which is larger than the radiator and the 10 bladed fan is in the way.

I have been thinking about cutting the bottom of the shroud off and adding some metal so that it can be replaced and secured after the cleaning. This way, I can reach up with a hose (and possibly a custom nozzle) from below and get to all areas. It would sure beat trying to sprawl across the engine from the inside, not to mention avoid having to take the matress/bedding off each time.

FWIW, I noticed that there were areas that appeared plugged until I worked on them for a while. This access would also give me the ability to clean between the radiator and the CAC since the washing from either end would tend to plug the other unit.

This modification should be easy, other than time consuming, but should greatly improve my units cooling efficiency.

I'll post more info with pictures if/when I am done.

Ken
