Does anyone have or knows where to find a schematic of the chassis (Mountain Master GT) that shows the lubrication points?

I went through this a year or so ago with Spartan. The answer was not available- too many variations was the rationale.

I have had no luck when trying to obtain the information from Spartan. The foreman at Cummins South did allow me to watch his mechanic when he "lubbed" my chassis. Maybe with my reply to you and replies from other members on this forum, we can figure out where all of the lub points are. I am sure that I will not remember all of the points where he lubed. There are the obvious points in the front end steering and tie rods, etc. and rocker arms. Also you will find lub points at the air brake locations on all wheels. Also the universal joints on mine are lubbed. There were grease zerts on all of the locations that they lubbed.

Hope this may shed some light on the subject for you.

Hmmm ... In my briefcase of manuals that Winnebago provided with my coach in 2003, there is a black three-ring binder labled "Spartan Chassis." One item in the binder is a two-sided sheed titled "Mountain Master Series Chassis Maintenance Guide." One side lists all the items that should be serviced, frequency, correct lube to use, etc. The other side indicates "the general location" of each item or service point listed, and also a brief instruction on checking/setting ride height. If you don't have a similar sheet in your owner materials, I have posted a copy of mine in PDF format on my website at http://www.mindspring.com/~afchap/RVTravels.htm. Scroll about 1/3 down the page to find a link to "Spartan Mountain Master GT Chassis Maintenance Guide." If you right click, you can download the two-page guide. It may not be identical to your chassis, but should be all that much different and may at least point you in the right direction to find each lube point.

Much appreciate the info that you give me and I too downloaded your guide which became part of my manual.

Thanks again,

Regards

I did this last night and here is what I found on my AP-GT chassis.

There are two zerk fittings per u-joint and one on the slip yolk of the driveshaft.

There is one zerk fitting per side per wheel on the air brake pivot shaft (both front and rear).

There is one zerk fitting at each end of the steering shaft that ties the steering box to the axle. They are on the tie rod ends.

There are two zerk fittings on each knuckle/spindle, one on the top and one on the bottom.

There is one zerk fitting on the pitman arm (the arm that attaches to the tie rod).

16 total zerk fittings that I could find. I know that there are other lube points but this was just FYI for the grease fittings.

BTW, as I was greasing these fittings, I realized that they haven't seen grease for probably 25K miles.

When I added grease to the u-joints, dust/dirt blew out followed by some crappy soupy "grease". I kept going until my new grease came out. It only came out of the upper and lower cups due to the driveshaft position but it clearly demonstrates the need for this service on a regular basis. I'll be picking up the u-joints today and will be installing them before our next "mini-big" trip just to be safe.

Re: the other zerks, time will tell but I can see tie rod end replacement in the future as well as a liberal scraping and de-greasing/de-roadgriming of all suspension and brake assemblies since I can't tell what condition they are in.

My wife keeps saying, why did we purchase a "new" MH just for you to work on it...again.
