Comfort Drive Retrofit

I just got the word from Spartan -- they can't retrofit the Comfort Drive onto my '07 KS. Too bad!

And I have no idea if and when the Howard Power Center Steering system will be resurrected, or if River City will continue to exist. But to help with the drivability, I'm taking it in to a Henderson shop, just to see what they have to say after a road test. Should be interesting.

Some of us have found the same to be true.

I talked to Ken Sherwin, the inventor of Column Drive (Newmar calls it Comfort Drive), from TRW, and it would require a new dashboard, a new speed sensing signal from the rear, and possibly a few other things.

TRW supplies the Comfort Drive to Spartan, who ships it separately to Newmar.

Neither Newmar nor Spartan have plans to offer retrofits.
