On mine just extend the generator and then you can stand up inside underneath the coach behind the generator. Tight fit but you will see the place to add freon to the dash air conditioner. hope it helps

Ours is a much older Spartan chassis, but it's under the bed in the engine compartment. It's strange the low side is under the bed and the high side is up front.

My low side input is right close to the dash air / Heater box right behind the door for the Generator. Read the pressure in the system using one of the fillers that has a gauge. It should read in the red area or close to it 80 to 90lbs + / -,start the AC and watch the gauge. The reading should be in the area of 32 to 34 lbs. when running. The low pressure switch will stop the compressor at around 28lbs.
134a is the type used.
Hope this helps
Dick. Bounder Diesel.

Evans Tempcon has a section on their site that gives the type of coolant used and how much. Spartan told me 3 lbs, but the Evans Tempcon chart showed 3½ lbs. I just need to buy a setup and recharge it I guess.

Mr. D! Get an inexpensive filler, one with a pressure gauge. Attach it to a can of 134 coolant. Do not puncture the can seal.
Connect it to the low side of the AC, this item will only connect to the low side. The high side and low side of the system connections are different sizes.
Read the static pressure, reading taken with the AC turned off. reading of 80 to 90 lbs. not uncommon. This will tell you if the system is holding pressure.
That being the case you can add coolant and get the system operating!
However !! if the reading is very low or no reading at all you have a major leak some where and will need it diagnosed at an AC Shop.
I had a connector fail(Broken at the crimp band)at the compressor. The shop wanted to change the line. Major expense $$$$. I opted to go to Freightliner service in South Carolina. They just replaced the bad connector and recharged the system. Savings approximately 500.00.
That paid for the fuel for a nice trip down the Blue Ridge Parkway. good trade off in my book.
Dick.

Mr.D see post dated 7-2-11 this post for good pressure readings. The hotter the day the pressures will read different. Some of the filler systems have a chart on the back of the gauge giving you the pressure difference to temp.
Good luck Dick.

Our system is nine years old so I suspect the "freon" has just leaked out over the years, but thanks for the info. I need to get out and check it along with some other stuff but it was just too hot today and I don't do heat very well.
