Daytime running lights
My 2005 Travel Supreme has daytime running lights. I installed LED bulbs this winter providing a great improvement for nighttime driving. Unfortunately the daytime driving lights are too bright according to the ferry operators. My question, “Is there an uncomplicated way to disable the daytime running lights?”

With DRLs mandatory here in BC, there may be issues with disconnecting them.
The DRL system on my F/L chassis only supplies 5 volts to the high beams for operation, so they are dim. You might want to check what voltage your Spartan chassis supplies or simply turn your headlights on; low beam; while loading, and check your headlight aim , if you haven't already.

My did the same thing. The bright light indicator stay on all the time. The dimer has no effect. Put the old bulbs back in . Back to normal.

Same with my '02 DSDP on Spartan. Just pulled the relay, which was legal here in the US, but not in Canada.

Ferry operators said it was too bright?
Didn't know they had jurisdiction over your vehicles up there.
How about if you put cardboard over your headlights when they are on the ferry?

Thanks for all the replies, I’ll do some looking for a DRL relay.
By the way, it was the Blackball ferry out of Port Angeles, Wa that has a sign on loading saying NO HEADLIGHTS, the employee directing onboard traffic gave me grief.
Thanks again all.

Disabling the DRL's may be as simple as pulling a fuse
Or a relay, though in the case of the Relay you may need to install a jumper or two.
One thing about DRL's.. I've seen a lot of argument on them
But I have also noticed if I'm waiting at a stop sign.. Often I will see a vehicle WITH DRL's before I see the non-lighted car in front of it. This is most prounced if the weather os other than good (IE LIght rain) which means the DRL's clearly make the approaching car easier to see, Very clearly. And thus less likely to broadside me when I pull out in front of it.
