How do I know when it's time for new shocks? What are symptoms I should look for when going down the road?
FYI - I have a Spartan (1998 vintage chassis.

Worn out shocks will let a vehicle continue to bounce up and down after a going over a bump.
Worn shocks will also let a vehicle bottom out when hitting a bump, that is letting the suspension travel it's full range, hitting stops on the chassis.

Well, after going over a bump my coach usually bounces a couple of times. But, I don't think it's ever bottomed out.
Perhaps it's time (10 years & 83,000 miles) to replace the shocks.
Thanks.

Hi Lew,
There may be another way to look at new shocks. Consider purchasing shocks that come with a lifetime warranty. Some may include labor some may not. This way for the rest of the time you own the coach, you'll always have a good set of shocks.
