Engine will not start

We have an '07 DSDP on a Spartan Chassis with an ISL 400 Cummins purchased this past June. On 2 occasions to date turning the ignition key to "on" and to "start" produced no response from the engine. The first, no start experience occurred following a short shut down after a two hour drive period. We called the dealer we purchased the coach from and was encouraged to turn the key a little harder, which we did several times and the engine came alive. The second no start happened after the coach had been sitting for three weeks. Repeatedly turning the ignition key finally awakened the 400hp beast.

My limited mechanical experience tells me it is likely the ignition switch or the starter solenoid. Has anyone experienced this problem with the Spartan chassis? Is there a way to test these items to determine the culprit?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Our 2002 DSDP did that last year, ended up having to replace the starter itself. Almost exactly $1,000 after the $700 tow (Coach-Net paid that).

We are hoping it is something other than a starter. This DSDF only has 30K miles on it.

Ours only had about 37,000 when the starter went.

We had a issue where the lock nut for the ignition switch loosened up and allowed the ignition switch itself to turn.
