While driving my 2002 Tradewinds diesel my catalytic muffler fell off due to a failure in the 4 rubber hangers which attach it to the undercarrage. Can anyone give me a clue where to get these? I have searched the webb for hours. I also live inan area that doesn't require a catalytic converter, where can I get a regular muffler?

Hi crusaderrabbit,
Had the similar thing happen to my muffler a couple of years ago while on a trip in Colorado.
I went to a Home Depot and bought some steel cable, 1/8 inch, and some small clamps. Under the chassis I went and wired up my muffler to the frame. Worked great.
The following year I was at Spartan for some other work and Spartan replaced the rubber hangers. The cables were left in-place in case the muffler hangers give up the ghost again.
This may work for you. As far as the rubber hangers are concerned, maybe you would want to check with the chassis manufacturer.

Thank you for the advise. I often wondered why Spartan didn't put a safety cable on it in the first place. That way I wouldn't have ruined a perfectly good catalytic muffler, which costs over $900.00, due to the failure of 4 $2.50 rubber hangers. I'm new to this and I didn't know that this was an item to look out for. I don't remember seeing it on the maintainance schedule when I read thru it.

See, you never know what tidbit you will learn when popping by on this site.
I will check mine this week and probably add a cable or two to mine JIC.
