Found Small Tear in Firestone AirRide Air Suspension Bag
Greetings from Lake Conroe, Texas. Just wanted to share HOW I discovered a tear in my rear passenger air bag on my 1997 American Eagle as I probably missed it by not knowing how to check them. I discovered it while adjusting the ride height adjusters. I found it only because the bag was full of air while I was inspecting it. I assume I missed it many times previously because I was previously always under there when the coach was not running and the bags were deflated. Wanted to share this as perhaps a few other owners are a bit naive like me and do not realize what one might find while checking the air bags when they are fully INFLATED. (The tear was along the lower rim and was easy to spot)
I ordered TWO rear replacements from truckspring.com for $174 each. I removed the torn bag and was able to easily identify its model number with help from them and their website. Other than having to use a cheater-bar to "break" the super-tight 16 year old bolts, it was an easy job removing it. I am contemplating replacing the two front bags too. They run about $153 each, but look a little more complicated to remove. Has anyone replaced them on an old straight axle Spartan Mountain Master Chassis? Any suggestions or comments? All the best & safe travels, Jeff...
