When I started up my 2006 MADP 4304 the other day, the fuel gauge immediately went to EMPTY. After running the engine for a few minutes and moving the MH around, the fuel gauge malfunction ceased and it read the correct fuel level. Is this a sign of the fuel gauge sender beginning to fail?

We had a similar problem on our 05 MA...started all of a sudden (actually on the way to Spartan for service). It started reading erratically going from 3/4 to 1/4 then back...when I actually had about 1/2 tank. Spartan replaced the sending unit and told me they had some that the fuel would wick up the sending unit probe and create the problem. It all went away with the new sending unit. Hope this helps.

There are a couple of possible culprits.. NOw.. This is "The old way" I do not know if your rig is like mine but this is how Ford did it back..Well a long time ago.

Battery,IgnitionSwitch and such --fuse--voltage regulator--Guage---------------Sender (The part that is in the tank)

Odds are.. The "Guage-----Sender" wire is.. not well connected (Corrosion on the sender is common)

Option 2 is a bad sender

Today's version is different

Computer-------Sender
Computer------Display
Computer------assorted other stuff

Again,Suspect 1 would be the wire,, 2 the sender and 3.. You do NOT want to replace the computer.
