Headlights

2000 MADP - Spartan w/Cummins

Suddenly, yesterday, the headlights won't come on and the dash indicator tells me the bright lights are on. No amount of movement of the stalk changes that.
Because of that, I can't use the fog/driving lights either. The turning signals and emergency flasher also stopped working.
I checked the fuses, removed the relays and moved them around. Now, I have turning signals, but still no headlights.
I do have marker lights.
My first thought is to find new relays and replace all of those in that box. There are 7, I believe.
Thoughts?

On our 04 Essex when we lost the headlights the problem end up with the control box for the controls on the steering wheel. The black box was in the outside cabinet under drivers seat. The chassis is a Spartan and the control box cost around 500$. Not saying this is what your problem is but might check the connections to the smart wheel control box.

That's kind of what i suspect. If the headligjts are off hand the wipers are off, i have emergency flashers and turning signals.
If I turn the wipers on, I don't. If I turn the headlights on, I don't, but I don't have headlights either.
How large is that box and what does it look like?

I left it alone a while. Lowers the irritation factor 😀
Anyway, I checked everything that I could think of and kind of guessed that it was the controller. I acquired one and replaced it. No change.
I'm probably forced to take it to a shop and pay a mountain of cash to find the problem.
Anyone have any other ideas?

Did a irv2 search for Newmar here is the result, take your pick.
You can also use the TSB Sticky top of forum I think you have three pages of TSB's may find a fix there or recall back that time period.

Headlights do not work.

2000 MADP - Spartan w/Cummins

Suddenly, two months ago, the headlights would not come on. Tje dash indicator tells me the bright lights are on. No amount of movement of the stalk changes that.
Because of that, I can't use the fog/driving lights either. The turning signals and emergency flasher also stopped working.
I checked the fuses, removed the relays and moved them around. Now, I have turning signals, but still no headlights.
I do have marker lights.
I've checked relays and fuses on the board, but no luck. So, I figured that it must be the smart wheel control box and acquired a new one and put it in. [emoji22] no luck.
Has anyone on a Spartan chassis with a smart wheel encountered this?
All ideas and suggestions are welcome.

Do a search in this forum. I had the same problem in 2015 that the guys at Charlotte couldn't fix. it is well documented in the Spartan forum. Sorry i can't give you a link as my laptop is down so I can't search. It was a smartwheel controller problem that replacing did not completely fix as our old model of controller is no longer available.

Hi crolfmilton,
Gut feel says it is the relay, like you posted in the OP.

What are the chances that it's the ignition relay (K5 On the board under the dash)? I can't even get it out and it is hot.
