Intelitec BBC

Hello All I cant get a straight answer out of Intellitec. I have an older 93 Motor home with A Cummins 5.9 and Allison 6speed. The BBC is bad and can not be repaired. the Intellitec part number is 00-00287-100. I have found a possible replacement that looks the same. the part number is 73-00501-000 this is the diesel version which I need. The parts look almost completly identical.

From what I have researched the gas version of the same board I have is a 00-00287-000 and the replacement version for this board is 73-00500-000. any one have any input on this.

If I were to be logical about this the following replacement boards are as follow.
Intellitec Gas version BBC
Old boar number 00-00287-000
New board number 73-00500-000

Intellitec Diesel version
Old board number 00-00287-100
New board number 73-00501-000

See attached photos the first one is the direct replacement for the gas version the second is I belive to be the direct replacement for the Diesel version.
See attached pic

I have verified the gas version is a direct replacement upgrade board. I cant seem to verify the Diesel board.

You say it can't be repaired? Maybe try this place. I got the tip from another member here on IRV2 that had this outfit repair some electronic board for something on his RV. Worth a shot.

I can not answer your question but I can ask one:

Why do they have "Gas" and "Diesel" versions?

What is so different about the 12 volt system between the two?
(Answer... I have no clue save... Starter current may be different and of course no "ignition 2" circuit on a Diesel, or today many gas engines either)

I mean this is the 12 volt side of life, not the liquid fuel side? I do not see where there is a difference, either system should work the same.. perhaps some fuses are different is all.

Go into this link, scroll down to batteries and wiring. You will find info on both gas and diesel BIRD systems.

Thanks for the links but I did not see anything in there that really helped me most of the info is for newer RV systems.

As for the difference in the Gas board vs the diesel board they look different and have different connection. I am assuming its mostly in the ignition systems and battery systems and a few more fused links for protection.
