1. What is the best fuel filter and what is the micron rating?

2. how in the hell do you get the thing out of there?

its right above the starter and close to the frame. i'm not a big guy but is can't
seem to get back there to get it off.....

On my 03 ISC (02 chassis/engine) the fuel filter required one guy below and one guy above to get it changed. I paid a Cummins shop $500 to relocate it to the rear where I could reach it. They have a "remote filter kit" that comes with all the parts required. I normally use a Fleetguard FS1022. Options are Cummins 3944264 or Donaldson P55-1022 apx $20. I have no idea what their micron ratings are.

I opened the hatch and got it from above. Don't leave the drain cock open, it's amazing how much fuel can be pumped out in just 15 seconds or so!!
