I just picked up my new VTDP on a Spartan MM with Cummins ISC/330 rear radiator. On the top right of the radiator there is a switch labeled "master". Anybody know what this is connected to? I will be putting this unit in storage and am still looking for the chassis battery shut off. Could this be it. I haven't been brave enough yet to just throw it and see what happens...........

It shuts off power to the engine so it can't be started while someone is working on it.

It also will kill any memory you have set for your radio, etc. Probably not necessary to use when in storage...just kill the house power if you dont need the fridge running

So does that mean that this switch will kill all current coming from the chassis battery, thus preserving it while in storage? My previous coach (Airstream) had two specific battery shut off's; one for the chassis and one for the house. Our new Ventana has only one identified for the house.

I am not sure of that. On my coach I have aseperate switch to kill the chassis and coach batteries. I would do a test before I relied on the switch in the back to kill everything.

Just tested the switch by opening the front door which activates the step and turns on a light underneath. The master switch above the engine does not deactivate these items so I suspect it only cuts off the engine electrical items. I am therefore still searching for a switch which will isolate the chassis battery from any electrical draw regardless of source. Anybody have any other thoughts?

Right...on mine the steps quit when the house power is killed...it's not on chassis power

It woud depend on your coach. I have a main and house battey disconnect switch located on a panel with my tank level guages, jack controls, thermostat, etc.

I forgot to mention that the steps work even when the house batteries are off. That is the same as on my previous coach. The difference here is that there isn't any switch that I have found to turn off the chassis battery. The Spartan manual references disconnecting the black negative cable when putting it in storage. I am wonder whether leaving this off may be one of the corners cut to save $$$ on an "entry level" (right, only 211K MSRP) coach.
