We need to replace the front brake calibers on our 1993 Coachman Santara but have been told by an RV center that Spartan no longer makes them & we would need to purchase a rebuild kit which would cost approx $400+ for the parts. Since that would be costly, we need to know if there's someplace where we can obtain calibers to replace the existing ones.

You'll need to ask for "calipers" not "calibers" If you find new calipers they'll be more expensive than the rebuild kits. If they no longer make the calipers then you'll have to have yours rebuilt UNLESS you can get really lucky and find a set somewhere at a shop.

I am sure the calipers were not made by spartan to start with, check with NAPA auto parts. I am sure you can find a rebuild kit for a whole lot less. Not much to a kit, should be around 30.00 per side.

take your caliper off and take them in so they can read the casting number. I'm doing the same on my MH and that what we did. He found a remanufactured one. Approx $100.00 without pads.Pads was $60.00

Thanks all. We have tried NAPA & have been told they do not have anything like this & we have pricing for rebuild kit -parts only for both front is around $400+ so rebuilding is more expensive then putting new calipers on. We have another RV dealership looking into the situation & we've been told the calipers are no longer made & there's no one out there remfg them & they where having issues on which calipers where on the MH so now we wonder if the $400+ are the correct calpers or not.

Thanks so much for your input bluefox. We contacted Denny @ Denny's Auto in OH & are waiting on his shipment which was sent out Fri, 8/12/11. He was able to obtain the calipers along w/ brake hoses (cheaper than we could have them made here in PA). We will keep his contact info for possible future needs.
