Rear Pressure Gauge
I just had the coach in a Cummins Coach Care Shop. I was told by another Spartan shop that the "Front Level Valve" was leaking, so the Cummins shop ordered the valve ahead of time and had it when I arrived for the appointment. The Spartan-certified technician replaced the valve on the passenger side and adjusted the ride height. I informed both him and the Service Supervisor that my rear pressure gauge has always read less than the front (always 125 psi) and both gauges had showed condensation inside on several occasions. I told the technician the rear pressure gauge used to show 105 psi, then 90 psi, then 75 psi. He told me that the gauge is wrong, because the compressor is relieving pressure as it should...and that would not happen if I had low pressure in one of the tanks. Is this true?
Now when I left the Cummins shop, the rear pressure gauge shows 50-55 psi and the red warning light comes on and off. The Service Supervisor did not have time to troubleshoot the system for me. He told me that it is more than likely the sending unit for the rear air tank system. I probably have water/corrosion in the system and need to service the air dryer. I guess that I am looking for a little sage advice here as to what I should do. I am really tired of hanging around truck shops, paying huge bills and really need to get out west ASAP. What would you do?

Listen to the experts, have it repaired ASAP! That red light is telling you there is insufficient air pressure to safely stop the MH. For more information watch this Air Brake test video. .
If air pressure drops too low there is a possibility the spring brake/parking brake will activate automatically_wherever you are , whatever you happen to be doing at the time.

Air Baron,
Had problems with my Air System last year also. Somewhat similar symptoms. Ended up that the Steel Braided Air line Between the Engine mounted compressor and the Air Dryer had a pinhole in it. Also, if you haven't replaced the Air Dryer Filter within the last 2-3 years, you should do that as well. I documented my problem on this forum. You might take a look for that thread.

Ray,
Just spoke to Spartan. What I have been told thus far is correct. There are electrical senders for each tank located in front of the driver side firewall. Told me to switch the wires to see if the readings switch gauges. If they do, then I know it is one of the senders. Then I might as well order both senders and change them at my earliest convenience. Meanwhile, I think I will just place a piece of electrical tape over that red light...or the gauge for that matter.
Drew,
I have owned the coach or 2 years and have not changed the filter...or pulled the lanyards. I doubt very many 13 year old coaches have had their air systems serviced. Certainly going to take care of it now.

To put this thread to rest, here is a picture of my senders. Summit sells a Stewart Warner 150 psi sender for $56. If you don't see another post from me, problem solved.

I just had the same issue on my spartan chassis. The air was leaking at the block, and at the drain points - plus the rear airbags where shot.

I replaced mine on my 2006 MM Chassis and it solved the problem. I bought them from these guys www.rvchassisparts.com at $109.00 apiece. Sounds like you found a better deal though. You should do a through inspection of your whole air system. I also had a leaky rear leveling valve.
