Spartan Chassis instrument panel gauges acting erratic

I need some serious help. I am new to this site and hoping someone out there can help me since no mechanic thus far has been able to. I have a 2004 Travel Supreme Select. The Instrument panel gauges will windshield wipe suddenly, especially when I hit a bump in the road but sometimes on smooth road. The red warning lights will also blink but then suddenly it will go back to functioning normal. Any suggestions on what the problem could be and how I can fix it myself. Thank you in advance, this is very annoying while driving,

Looking at your profile I can not see what year your coach is... nice to add your info into the signature line.
I would focus on a couple of things you may have in common with all of these gauges...
Common Ground - Check for loose connections
Connector coming loose - Open up the dash and follow the wires to any connectors. Unplug the connectors and plug them back in...

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Sure sounds like a common ground problem! Have fun and keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

"Windshield Wipe"? What do you mean by that?

If you mean they blink off and then back on I would suggest this. You probably have an access panel in the dash above the instrument cluster. You should find it easy to access all the plugs on the back of the cluster.

As W0GEN suggested, check the connector plugs for a solid connection. You could also consider spraying some contact cleaner on the pins and plugs.

I agree with wogen. Make sure any contact cleaner you use is safe for plastics.

The following is from the forum on the topic that you are asking about.

I just went through a similar issue with mine. Speedometer kept going whacky and then other gauges started. Spartan chassis. Tech figured all of the information was being transmitted up to the dash. Ends up the speedometer module controls the entire dash cluster. It was bad. We replaced that for $400 and everything is fine now.

t looks like the instrumentation is from AMETEK Instrumentation and Specialty Controls; Hidalgo, TX; 956-843-4576. Another contact for AMETEK is AMETEK DIXON Sales; Grand Junction, CO. no phone number but I think they might be the customer service branch. Google for a number.

The gauges can be obtained from Spartan if you decide to replace one or all. If you replace the SCU (speedometer), be sure to have the mileage and hours on the unit so the new gauge can be celebrated at Spartan before shipping to you.

I do not know if you can purchase from AMETEK, but they were very helpful in chasing down the issue I was having with my instrumentation. FYI, the frequently used term NGI stands for Next Generation Instrumentation and I think it is a AMETEK term.

When I replaced my SCU, I also replaced the TELLTALE module. That is the rectangular unit in the instrument cluster where the icons appear. Replacing both fixed my instrument problems.

The electrical short issue, in my opinion, should be chased down first to see if that is the reason for the instrumentation problem. Probably not, but with electricity, who knows. You may have two things going on at the same time.

Thanks for any help you can give,
