Hello all

My DW Linda and I recently bought a Newmar MH on a Spartan Chassis. I recently found out about and signed up for the SCIC service week in Charlotte, MI.

Any of you good folks gonna be there?

Anyone who has been there, will you share with me what to expect?

Thanks

Mike

Mike,

I am not sure we qualify as "one of the good folks", but my wife and I are attending! In fact, I think I was the first one to sign up. My window ID card is listed as "#1".

I want to learn about maintenance on my chassis, and get some things done at a discounted price. They are going to check my ride heighth, change my front wheel bearing lube (and show me how), and they told me that I should have had some "U-bolts" tightened on my chassis at 1500 miles..... so they will check that.

I have no idea how many people will be there. Yours is the first mention of this 'rally' that I have seen on any bulletin board for RV's!

We are also signed up for the IRV2 rally in Dundee, Ohio a couple of weeks later.

Maybe we will meet you there........... especially if we are the only two attendees!!!

Richard

Mike, Richard.. I don't know if a "Spartan Service week" is the same as what I know as a Spartan Chassis Rally but if it is you are in for a great week. I attended the rally's in 2001 and 2002. BIG attendance. Outstanding classes by component suppliers, Cummins-Allison-Goodyear etc and the Spartan staff. Lots of good maintenance tips. Lots of parts to purchase at good prices. I bought a wiring diagram of the chassis at a low price, very good ref to have. Stuff might be online now but back then it wasn't. In 2002 had the Cummins and chassis serviced and ride height adjusted. Probaly more was done but I have trouble remembering what I had for breakfast.

You probably know this, but the city is pronounced shar Lot' not sharlot like in the Carolinas. I didn't know and took a lot of ribbing.

Have a great time. Wish I could be there.

Contrary to my prior post, my wife and I will not be at this event. My mother, who is 90 years old, had a major surgery two weeks ago, and her recovery is slower than I expected! She is staying at my house for recovery............. can't leave her alone!!

Spartan has been very helpful in rescheduling us in for service at my convenience later in the summer.

Best regards,
Richard

We'll be there. Currently in Nappanee, heading that way tomorrow.

This is the week that was supposed to be the Spartan Homecoming (their big rally). The rally was cancelled, and the "Service Week" event replaced it. It's basically JUST service, with a handful of seminars (3 I think) bu Spartan people. We were looking forward to the big rally, but since we're due for annual service anyway, we're decided to attend the service week.

We're at the Spartan Service Week camping area now. Looking forward to the rest of the week.

Best laid plans and all that. We were going to be there, but family health issues intervened. We're now in Little Rock instead of Charlotte.

We had Spartan maintenance seminars, which were very detailed and great, even though I had been to one before, I learned more; we had Spartan Customer Service seminar telling how Spartan treats warranty work, etc., and we had a great catered lunch today (Wednesday).

Allison Transmissions had a seminar, a great display of their transmissions, and they also paid for the catered lunch.Thursday, there will be a Cummins seminar. About 65 units, but I'm glad I came. We met many nice people and had a lot of fun so far.

We have to leave with the rig on Thursday to get it serviced. Will probably head out to Camp Newmar for some non warranty paint work after the service on Thursday.

Hi

ricere gave a very good synopsis of the seminars and lunch, but forgot to mention the entertainment - a good band played Tuesday night, and we got to watch a hot air balloon air up and take off while munching on s'mores.

Spartan is also selling parts and service at a discount. They have a parts trailer at the campground staffed by very helpful people.

We are having a good time, meeting great people, learning about our chassis and saving some $$ on needed service and parts. We will be back.

I can only imagine how great this week was when it was a full fledged rally.

Happy Travels

Mike

Mike is right. We hope to be back, too. It has been a good week.
