Spartan maintenance stuff

Looks like I'm going to attend the Spartan factory tour. A friend just returned, and told me some things they mentioned. One is, the only time the automatic slack-adjusters work are when you put at least 100# pedal pressure on the air system. Another is to have your system aired-up, hold down your brake pedal while starting the engine, and continue to do so until after you hear 4-6 air pressure firings, and also feel them through the brake pedal. This only happens if you perform this Spartan procedure. I must admit, I have already forgotten why to do this one.
I have performed them both, and experienced the results he said.

This ^ procedure purges the ABS valves, my assumption would be if you don't hear the 4 (for 2 axles) or 6 (if you have a tag) pops you need to get your ABS system serviced.

EDIT, the procedure is hold the brake pedal and turn the key to on but don't start the engine, you should hear the 4 or 6 pops.

jarwiebe, not that I want to hijack this thread but on the topic of ABS... When I start my coach I get an "ABS Fault" in the Spartan Message Center (on the dash). The message then goes away, is this normal? Is it my starting sequence that causes the fault, ie not fully aired up? Someone said I may have a defective or dirty sensor, how would I tell which one? TIA I have a Spartan Mountain Master GT frame (tag).

I have never had any issues with my ABS so can't speak to your problem, hopefully someone who has had this experience will respond to your question.

Mine will not do the 4 pops until the engine starts. When I did the slack-adjuster thing, the LF wheel made a loud metallic pop. Is that usual?
HIIDan, my ABS light came on and another friend said to use my pressure washer and thoroughly spray the brake drums from the opposite side. It worked, after a day of drying out, when I started it up the ABS light went out after initialization. That was several months ago and still goes out after startup.

I think that is a normal systems check, every vehicle I own does that_all dash lights flash on, then go off after the engine is running.
My ABS light began staying on continually. A neighbor said to use my pressure-washer on straight-stream and thoroughly wash the inside of each wheel. I did, and shortly afterwards the ABS light turned off and stayed off-except for the start-up check procedure.
It was That video is for a light truck or auto, but the theory is exactly the same.
BTW, when the ABS light is on while driving, it only means the ABS system will not prevent a wheel brake from locking, but your brakes still work well to stop the vehicle.
