Spartan Training Class Question

Hi:

We run a Newmar MH w. Spartan chassi and are scheduled in for Prev. Maint. Svc. in Charlotte, MI on Mon. 6/13. I see on the Spartan web site a mention about a "training class" for motorhome owners which shows dates of one class from June 14 - 17.

Has anyone on this sight taken this class? How much does it cost? AND....is the class right at the Spartan/Cummins Charlotte, MI shop??

Don't know if it's too late to sign up, but would sure fit our schedule if available.

Thanks.

Steve & Lynette

According to Spartan the next available class is June 28 - July 1 and the cost is $725. The training is for two people and includes lunch and camping at the nearby fairgrounds. The class covers the following.

Pre-Trip Inspection
Fundamentals of your vehicle
Roadside troubleshooting
Component location
Spartan or OEM?
Towing/tow brake air kit
Chassis maintenance
Weighing unit/tire pressure
Warranty/Coach-Net
Driver Course consisting of Driver hazard awareness, basic driver guidelines, hazard avoidance, control and recovery and the driver’s role
Personal on the road drive time with a certified instructor
Personal walk around of your coach with a qualified Spartan Chassis Technician
Factory tour

I took a light version of the class at Spartan in 2003 and it was excellent. They had a bare chassis and their technician walked around it explaining the features, locations and adjustments. They gave handouts of chassis electrical and chassis mechanical. The technician hung around and answered many of my questions one on one. Look at the two sites below.

I am booked into the one for the end of June. I did not know it was for two people. My wife was going to spend the time with relatives. Might have to re-think this and get her trained as well. She has never driven the coach, so not too sure if she would benefit the course or not.

Anyone else out there booked in for this course. I am surprised to see there are still spots left for this course.

Hi Obi-Wan! If your wife decides not to join you, let me know. I might stand in.

Seriously though, let us know how much value you get out of the training. I'd be interested myself, but have to judge whether it's worth both the cost, and the time away from work.

Thanks,
littlec

MY wife and I attended the class last summer. Money well spent. Very professional and well organized. All the sections were top notch.

Did they exclusively train on the bare chassis, or did they teach you how to inspect your own chassis?

They did both. They did training on the bare chassis where everything was easy to see and they came to my motorhome and one-on-one went over my motorhome.
