According to R V Business:

"Nappanee, Ind.-based Newmar Corp. recently honored its top suppliers of the year at their 13th annual Vendor Appreciation Dinner.

Earning Newmar's most prestigious award was Spartan Chassis Inc., Charlotte, Mich., receiving the 2006 Virgil Miller Award of Excellence. Newmar said Spartan, which supplies diesel chassis, was named "for providing excellent supplier support in all phases of business over the past year."

"Because of our partnership with Spartan, we have been given the ability to offer unique features in our products that can't be copied by our competitors," said Dick Parks, Newmar CEO and chairman. "Spartan has a superb executive team, a forward-thinking president, and a management team who shares our guiding principles. Spartan is responsible for supplying one of the most complicated parts we buy."

That's interesting. It's also pretty easy to understand. When looking over the Freightliner site recently I was looking at the various model & year specific chassis spec sheets for various chassis. I noticed that there were no spec sheets for the 2007 Newmar products. Apparently, Newmar recognized a good thing and went 100% Spartan this year. I know that the Spartan chassis has been introduced on the Allegro Bus within the last year and now the lion's share of Allegro Busses are being ordered on the Spartan. You get your choice - Spartan or Freightliner at no extra charge. The new 42' tag axle rear radiator Phaeton that's being introduced at RVIA this month is also rolling out on a Spartan chassis. Given the product quality and the company's commitment to service I can certainly understand why Newmar is going Spartan.
