Spartan's stock rose 36% or $6.04 per share due largely on the release of their 4-Q results. Even in a semi down turn in motorhome sales Spartan has sold more chassis in its RV frame market.
Sure wish I would have had some of their stock.

I heard the single reason that it soared was because "somebody" bought a London Aire recently.

Seriously though, I can see why. They just plain do a great job. The produce a good chassis and take care of their customers. Prior to the 2007 model year, Tiffin only used Freightliner on the Allegro Bus and Phaeton. Starting in 2007 they offered the Spartan chassis as a no cost option on the Allegro Bus and the recently release 42' Phaeton only comes on a Spartan. Recent polls by Tiffin owners at Red Bay found that 26 out of 31 diesel chassis on the production line were Spartan. Of the other 5, 4 were Phaeton chassis and they had no choice. Only one Bus out of 27 was on a Freightliner. The Allegro Bus buyers know a good thing when they see it and they are overwhelmingly ordering the Spartan chassis. That's a pretty good percentage for a first year change. I know I sure like mine.

HEY!! I resemble that remark!

I can offer a resounding SECOND on the fact that Spartan takes care of their customers.
The VP of Sales and Customer Service for Spartan CC gave me his personal cell number when I was having cooling belt issues and he encouraged me to use it if I needed to...
Spartan folks are good folks...

Wish I'd bought some of that stock!!

Here at Spartan. Asked Chris, the service writer, about the stock. He said that the biggest contributor was Military. He showed me their primary vehicle via picture. It is a utility vehicle w/a V-Shaped Hull that has been very effective at deflecting blasts. Much better than parallel to the ground hull.

He said that's why they don't do factory tours any more. They would have to screen everyone for citizenship and record.

They have been very successful in Iraq.

I too was in a jam, was unable to get quick assistance, and called the same VP (on his cell phone also) that Bob called. He directed me to right guy to get help, and later a Director from Spartan called me to assure that I received the help I needed.

That sure looks like it. I don't remember seeing the boom though.

Also, the picture he showed me was of a vehicle that had hit an IED. It looked in great shape, no one died, and they may have removed the boom.

It is great to hear that level of service is available even to the non K-chassis owners.

Yes, that Buffalo looks similar to the ones we saw on a factory tour last Oct. No boom on them, though, but the rest looks about the same. While no info was provided, I figure the thing gets about 5-10 gals/mile....YOUR mileage may cvary....

We were also told they were building some for US police dept. work....kinda sad to see such a machine is even needed here...

Today Jim Cramer mentioned Spartan as a stock to buy. At first he didn't think RV's were too popular with high fuel prices, but apparently thought the number of military vehicles they're building would lead to some real profits. The stock closed just north of $26 today.
