I made an observation regarding the tag axle. Mine is slightly off-set to the left, maybe an inch or so. The driverside is nearly in line with the track of the main rear axle while the passenger side is about 1 inch in. I just went and check two other K2 chassis's, a MADP 45' and an EXDP 45'. The Essex was identical to mine while the MADP was similar but far less apparent.
I'm guess there is some toreration and movement to help in tight non-lift turning situations. I'm going to call Spartan tomorrow and get the scope.

Interesting... I looked at a few 42' Allegro Busses on the Spartan chassis and they were in line. But, those were the Mountain Master GT tag axle chassis, not the larger K2. It's possible that the walking beams have more play on the K2, but fall into line once you drag the tag down the road? The way the axle is located it's pretty hard to put it in wrong. Let us know what they have to say.

Called Spartan and had to wait for them to check with their techs and call me back. They called back and said the tech thinks it requires aligning. They said the coach manufacturer is responsible to align it after box install. The only thing I'm not sure if they understood what I was saying. The wheel faces are not even when compared to both the body and the main axle. That is the tag is straight with the travel of the rig but tracks slightly inside the main axle wheel especially on the right side.
Anyway, I will make arrangements to have it checked and will post their findings. This probably will not happen for two or three weeks.

Update: The tag axle has a certain amount of movement from side to side allowing it to settle slightly either way particully if backing in and turning. Newmar's chassis people took mine into their chassis shop and thoroughly check it out and it was perfect. So seeing this slight offset on ocassion is normal.
