Some people have wrapped the boots then inserted a zert and crammed grease into it. Mine were so bad I just went ahead and had them replaced. If the ball joints are ok, and clean, and you could keep them well graesed it would certainly put off the expense of a replacement. It was a little over $2000 for mine. But my ESP took care of it.

Just returned from the Spartan factory in Charlotte Mi yesterday with new upper and lower ball joints at a cost of $1800. They have a 20 % off on parts until April. Got it done now because they told me labor rates going up after Jan 1. They did a great job and the coach steers and handles like new. Prior to the repair the steering was stiff and the coach wandered a bit. Did let them know of my disappointment with this early failure. They were somewhat sympathetic but no relief on cost. Just had new tires put on (larger) and waited for ball joint replacement to get a front end align. as it is included. Before the ball joint replacement I was considering the Blue Ox tru center steering assist but the improvement is so dramatic it is not necessary. Didn't realize how sloppy the steering was until I had the ball joints replaced.

My boots are long gone, joints are tight and I liberally apply Boeshield T-9 on a regular basis.

This product lubricates and protects from corrosion and has excellent wicking properties to truly penetrate the ball joints.

On my coach I cock the wheels to the right and can easily reach the upper and lower ball joints on each side of the coach.

Working fine so far, 84K miles on the clock.

boot repair

Mine were pretty much gone... I removed a clamp that holds the lower ball joint boot in place and wrapped it with a flexable sealing tape used around window installations. Reinstalled clamp and has held up well.

I got some of the t-9. I have applied it a couple of times behind what is left of the boot. Probably just my imagination, but it did seem to turn easier. I will continue. Thanks for the tip!
