I'll give a 2nd thumbs up to the NASCAR campground at Maggie Valley. Nice place to stay and the sites along the stream/creek were very nice and the park was well maintained.

Try Fontana Village Campground. They are about 11 (?) miles east on Rte 28 and the ride to and from is almost as good as the Dragon.
They have non electric tent or RV sites and electric sites. Call Fontana Village for more info. I have stayed there many times and it is at the base of Fontana Dam and very pretty.

Hey Al,

We stayed at Cove Creek 3293 Wears Valley Rd Sevierville TN and had a great time. It's 11 miles from PF and GB. via a back road through the forest. When you get to the T you make a right and go to the dragon. It's a beautiful ride through the forest following the stream with pull offs.

If you make a left at the T you will go into GB where the first bar on the left is a biker bar. Just ask the manager (Don i think) at the CG for the directions. Ride safe!

On this side of the Smokies, check out Misty River in Walland... it's only 10 miles or so to the western end of the Dragon's Tail. on the NC side, check out the area surrounding Fontana Village. Camping in both areas can be checked out on campgroundreviews.com....

Was gonna mention them myself. Stayed there a few years ago. It's a pretty new place, opened just 3 years ago or so.

There are several campgrounds on Wears Valley Rd at/near Pigeon Forge. Stayed at one several years ago, Eagles Nest that was fine also.
