We just took delivery of a '99 Gulf Stream Tourmaster 8405 and looking for a cargo trailer to haul 2 Yamaha cruisers. I have got two conflicting opinions from 2 different trailer dealers regarding a V-nose verses a flat-nose trailer; both sell both styles.

One says the turn radius between Class A and the trailer is restricted with a flat-nose trailer and the other says just the opposite!!

What say you with experience with either and a Class A????

Call a couple of other dealers. To me, it only makes sense that the V-Nose would allow more clearance ASSUMING that the distance from the coupler to the box is the same. That's another thing to check.

We pull a 7x12 flatnose trailer an have never had a turning problem in 10000 miles. We're getting ready to fulltime with 2 Harleys and have added Craftman tool cabinets across the front with lockers on both sides for added storage in the nose which we could not have done with a v-nose

V nose will give you better gas mpg. More clearance. Go for it...

Get the V nose, also recommend that you get a double axel, if you think you need 12FT get a 14 ft, also get the drop down rear. Northern tools has the drive in and lock front wheel/tire holders for around 50 each. They work great. Just ride in to the lock and get off, tie it down and your away. I takes about 2 min to load and go with the set up. Have a great time, Happy Trails

I second that on the wheel chocks. I put them on my trailer and what a breeze it is to load and unload my Harleys by myself.

The v or flat will only make a difference on milage if pulling with something that is shorter in hight than the trailer. A MH is taller and wider than a trailer so their is accually a vacume btwn the trailer and MH (like drafting in Nascar). I have a difference in mpg of 7mpg without and 6mpg towing of my 4000# trailer. The main thing you should watch is the tongue weight. A trailer will add at least 10% or more to MH at the hitch. On many C & A MH's they only have a ccc of 1000# or less so you lose how much you can take. One thing we did was since the floor and ramp of cargo trailers are wood and wood is slick when wet, we took ours to Line-x and had them sprayed with the rubber bed-liner material. Not only is it safer loading but we don't tie down the rear of the bikes since the tires won't slide sideways on the rubber. Get the good wheel choks. We use ours as a garage when camping. You just ride in and get off...they hold them without tieing down (be sure to tie down b4 moving ) but for over night it's great and no worry about weather or kids.
