Front motorcycle mount on an Chevy Van 350 24 feet Itasca

Hi
I'm new here. I have an old Winnebago Itasca Chevy Van 30 1991. Its a class-c 24 feet with 350 engine.

I would like to carry a 500 ponds motorcycle using front hitch. Any advice? Do and don't ? Planing to trip 8000 miles with the RV & motorcycle in end of august.

Thanks, cheers!

Welcome to iRV2.

Without your coach's loaded for travel axle weights and ratings , I would stop just short of a; " NO ! Don't do it . " and have to stick with , " probably not a good idea".
Possible overloading the front axle and tires , and reducing air flow to the rad , for a trip in August, are the contributing factors.

Are you all ready towing a car ? Because trailering the motorcycle would be the way to go.

Hi Skip426
Thanks for the answer. I was said to not install a hitch on the back because the RV's frame is an extension of the van's frame (Class-C) and would put to much weight on the 'house' and would change to much the weight distribution of the RF.

I'm not towing a car, what kind of trailer would you suggest ?

Thanks

There would be a big difference , between the amount of weight that a platform to carry a motorcycle and a hitch to tow a small flat deck trailer for the motorcycle will put on the frame .
I imagine there is already a spare tire mounted on the rear bumper of the coach, and moving the spare, to the trailer will remove the same amount of weight from the chassis that the motorcycle trailer will add.
I would say that a flat deck trailer 4'x8' with a 1,000 lb capacity and 14" tires, would handle the bike and spare, tow nicely ; and only place about 150/200 lb of tongue weight on the chassis.

Have you weighed the coach , loaded for travel ? and compared those weights to the coach's axle ratings?
Have you been on any trips with the RV ?
Is the cooling system in great condition?
