IT'S ALIVE!!!
I got it back together and lit it off at 8:50 this morning with only 2 minor problems:
1. Initially, I wasn't getting fuel flow through the petcock. Took care of that.
2. One carb had a stuck needle/float and dribbled fuel out the air cleaner. Got that freed up.
With that done, the engine lit right off. It took less than a minute for the untouched original carbs to clean up and start hitting on all 4 cylinders, but it's now idling at 1000 RPM (remember - it has the Yoshimura cam) and sounding great. Next step was to unstick the clutch plates - bike on centerstand, 1st gear, clutch in and GENTLE rear brake application - with 2 or 3 stops, the clutch broke loose.
Next step is to take it around the block - with no baffle in the header, 1985 Ohio plates and no inspection sticker. I hope the local LEOs understand.....

I had a '75 CB750 that I put 85,000 miles on it before I sold it. The original pipes were long gone and were replaced with a 4/1 header system.
Sure wish I had it back. Only 48HP but it sure sounded good.

Had my CB750 K1 from 1971 (New) to 1984 after a bad crash. Kept it pretty much stock except for a Corbin seat and replacement exhaust. The first replacement exhaust was a Hooker 4 into 2 that really made a difference in power without needing re-jeting. That rusted out in about 5 years, and I put on the Jardine 4 into 1.
Currently have a Yamaha FZ6R 4 cyl. 600 for the street. It's more agile and a little quicker than the CB was, but otherwise feels a lot the same.

Mine, as it sits in the garage, has 9611 miles.
I'm thinking about riding unannounced into the Honda shop and telling them, "I'm here for the 10,000 mile service."

Rusty, if you do, make sure sandy videos the event and the expressions on the techs face.
Oh and it sounded so sweet last night. bet you are itching to get the tires on it and crack the throttle open a bit.

Sandy made me put the baffle back in the header before I rode it over to the tire guy's house this afternoon.

Wow ! That brings back memories. In 71 I got a new CB450, a blue one. You have a beautiful 750 that is in great shape. I'll bet a beer that you'll win that challenge.
Good luck,
Walter

Thanks. I'm working my way through the rust issues - it sat in an unheated, dirt floor carriage house in Ohio for 22 years. The swingarm has been cleaned up and touched up. My next major project is to have the wheels relaced with new rims and stainless steel spokes. It's a work in progress. When I fired it up yesterday, that was the first time it had run in 25 years.

Here it is, insured, inspected, licensed and ready to hit the street as of this morning.
Still haven't replaced the rims - that'll have to wait until I get some seat time on it.

Excellent Rusty. Looking good.
I just seen a show on cable called Cafe Racers and they had a 1 owner 71 CB750 that they cut all down and put a swing arm on it. Thought they did injustice to a real cool original CB750 but hey it's all good.

Nice bike Rusty. There are "money pits" and then there are labors of love. I think you have the last one. I am glad you are breathing life into that old bike again!
