Wife and I are in the planning stage of our first Southwest trip.
Will be trailering the Ultra. Plans are to park the coach in Sedona for 4 days, Page for 3 days and Durango for 6 days.
Any suggestions on riding routes in these areas?

jww, The road to Sedona has very narrow and twisty roads with a few hair pins. We did it in our toad however it might have been a bit more challenging in the motorhome. Very beautiful scenery and you'll love it.

Thanks DriVer
I do recall that the RV Park we are considering in Sedona gave two routes from Flagstaff. One stated no RVs over 24'.
From studying the Bike forums it appears there are plenty of great rides in the area (Northern Arizona, Southern Utah, South West Colorada).
We plan to make 250-300 mile per day rides always returning to the coach.

The wife and I love US191 From Alpine to Morenci and back. It is about 93 miles one way....lots of elevation change, sweepers and closer to Morenci lots of hairpins. We have found an RV park ( Casta Escondida Trailer Park - Nutrioso, Arizona (AZ) | Company Profile ) just 7 miles North of Alpine that can take large RV's. Alpine itself has a few parks geared more to Trailer and Fifth-Wheel occupancy. The road is lightly traveled during the week and lots of bikes on weekends. Free Range so watch for cattle and for that matter Elk, Bear, Peccary, and kamikaze chipmunks. Scenery is outstanding! There is a wonderful overlook 23 miles or so South of Alpine called Blue Vista....be sure to stop for pics....evenly spaced places to stop with pit toilets along the way. Respect the road and you will have a great time.

NMBeemercouple,
Thanks for the suggestion ! 191 thru the Apache Sitgreaves National Forest looks like a great ride. At this point our plans are to focus more towards the Sedona area for a few days, then up to Page for a few days, then over to Durango for a few days. Total of about 3 weeks. From what i am reading we might need our cold weather gear as it may be cool riding (for southern folks) in the Durango area in mid-May.
Again, Thanks for the suggestion.

Always take your cold weather gear when riding in the Rockies. We have ridden through sleet and snow in July in Arizona. It's the altitude.

One morning I rode out of the campground at North Rim in late July and it was close to 28 degrees....

We use heated liners which makes it easy.....

Enjoy the trip....

Thank You for the guidance Sir ! Our plan is to be comfortably prepared and enjoy every moment of the trip.
Wife rides a '68 R60US when we have the old bikes out. She did not take well to the foot clutch/hand shift of our older bikes so the beemer fit the bill very well. Leaving the old iron at home on this trip as the comfort of a modern bike has spoiled us.

Better late than never.......
Our southwest trip in May was fantastic !
3400 miles on the coach
2300 miles on the Harley
Helicopter ride - Sedona and Grand Canyon
Boat ride on Lake Powell
Train Ride Durango to Silverton
Weather could not have been any better.
We WILL do this trip again.
Thanks again for the advise we received from this forum.
