05 Forester - comments?

We're looking seriously at an 05 Forester 31 with an E450 chassis with the V-10 engine. It's in really nice shape, leather upholstery, one big slide (dining room/living room), about 8000 miles. Altough it's a Class C, it has an entertainment center in place of the overhead bed, a feature we love, as we're not agile enough to get up to a bed and too claustrophobic to use it.

A local dealer has it on consignment at $55,000. Nada says $50.500. We're thinking of offering about 10K less than the asking price.

Does anyone out there have experience with this model? I'm concerned about the water tanks (all three) and the gas tank all being behind the back axle, as I've heard stories about rear axle weight limits being exceeded before you've put people and gear in the rig.

DW is really keen on this one, so any negatives have to be really strong!

Here is a LINK that should help you in weights and other questions you may have.
There are some PDI lists also in New rig forum that can help also.
Good luck in your quest.

The Forester is no longer under consideration, though we're staying with Forest River. We're buying a 2002 Georgetown 325 from a private owner who's had to give up RVing for medical reasons.

Should be finalized about July 7th.
