Berkshire Engine Size

Going to look at a new Berkshire this Saturday. The unit on the lot has the standard 340hp engine.

Thoughts on paying more money for the 360hp engine?

Berkshire

have a 2009 with the 340 cummins, no problems pulling hills with a tow car, just got back on 8000 mile trip to AK. Get about 10 miles per gallon, some times a little less if lots of hills. Have a 390QS Model, save the extra cost and use it for fuel.

We have a 340 and have no issues with it. For us it wasn't worth the additional $$ for the 360.

I have the 340 in our Berkshire 360FWS and pulled our toad over the mountains in Tennesee and Kentucky and it had no issues. Drove through them at night and didn't even feel like I was driving in mountains. Averaged 10.5 MPG on the trip from Georgia to Michigan.

Unless you need 10,000# hitch capacity you don't need to spend the $10,000 for the 360.

When we were in Alaska there was a guy in our campground with a Berkshire who said he had gotten just under 11MPG coming from Florida with a Saturn in tow. Pretty good mileage with the 340.

We ended up going with the 360hp. I was able to purchase a 2013 with the 360 for the same money as the 340hp. Pick it up this Friday.

Thanks.

We're at Lazydays now. They have a couple punch list items to repair before we head back to PA. The inverter is not working and needs replaced being the biggest issue.

Is the 340 a 6.7 L ISB and is the 360 an ISC 8.3 L?

Thanks Marc & Jan. We just arrived home this afternoon. From Florida to PA we averaged 10.5mph running about 70 -75 the whole way. Such a nice ride compared to our gasser.
