Coach Batteries not Changing?

Buddy of mine has a 2008 Georgetown 370XL. He’s gone through a few sets of house batteries. I go over and my meter doesn’t show that he’s charging. Shows about 11.55volts and all fuses look good.

I’m use to the humming of a converter and a charge voltage of about 13.5volts, but I don’t hear and or see either. I’ve been looking for the converter, but can’t find it. Could some one tell me what I’m missing? Fuses look good, 12volt lights are bright and working. How do I know if the batteries are charging while plugged into a 50amp 120v pedestal?

My convertor/inverter does not "hum." To find out if it's working you will need to locate it. It's got to be in one of the service bays. Don't know what brand you are looking at, but it should have some lights on it that tell you what its doing. The explaination of these lights is usually printed on the side of the convertor/inverter. If not... get the model number and look it up online. The convertor is the side that charges the batteries. It should be putting out 13.8-14.X volts while charging. You should also see this voltage at the battery terminals. Take a reading off the battery terminals and then unplug from shore power and take another reading. If its working you should get a slightly higher voltage when connected to power, with good batteries.

Hope someone else can add to this, but more specific info would help...

If the lights are bright while plugged in and go out when you pull the plug, the battery disconnect switch is off, bad or a fuse/breaker very close to the batteries is blow/open.
