Just purchased a 2012 Mirada. Can someone tell me how to hook up the black/grey sewer connection to the plastic pipe located under the sewer connection cabinet and attached through the cabinet floor? I can't even get a good answer from the dealer. I'm going to call the manufacture tomorrow but thought someone out there has the same setup. The plastic pipe I'm referring to looks like ABS, about 2ft long, and swivles where it is attached to the cabinet floor to a 90 degree angle from the RV. The open end of the pipe looks like a 3in threaded coupling. The attachment to the cabinet floor looks like a flange with a 3in hole in the center and exits by means of a 90 degree elbow.

Use a standard 10 ft. RV sewer hose and attach to the quick connect sewer pipe inside the cabinet. The ABS swivel pipe is only for storage of your 10 ft. length of sewer hose without disconnecting it.

Seems like a lousy design to me. In many cases, you need a threaded fitting on the exit end of the hose to attach to the disposal site. The fitting will not fit into the ABS pipe. Therefore, you need to attach a fitting to the hose whenever you have this situation. Also, due to a rise at the outside edge of the compartment (where the door latches) you will always be left with some sewage (or fluid) in the hose when you disconnect from the disposal site.
Thank you for your help, Larry

I have been using it on my 2006 since new and like it very much. Most sewer hoses have quick connect ends on them so adding and removing the elbow on the end is no problem. The swivel 4 inch pipe gives support and height to your sewer hose. I carry 2 additional 10 ft. pieces , outlet elbow, and sewer hose ramp in a separate plastic bin. The 10 ft. piece stored in the 4 inch swivel pipe makes for ease on dump station stops. If you would rather not have it you could have your dealer remove it and install a threaded plug in the opening.

I now understand how the system is suppose to work. What kind of quick disconnect do you suggest? Those that I've seen and used in the past will not fit inside the ABS pipe.

Here is how I handled it on my 2011 Mirada 34BH. I purchased this heavy duty 10ft sewer hose without fittings. Hope this helps!

I inserted this sewer hose into the swivel sewer connection and up into the service compartment. Once I had that done I screwed on this valve connector, which will not fit through the swivel pipe with the fitting pre installed.

After I hooked the sewer pipe to the valve I installed the bayonet to the outside end of the sewer pipe. This will fit in the swivel pipe for storage and you can screw on the swivel pipe cap.

This is the conection that I have that completes the hookup to the park sewer system.

You will probably have times when you need more than 10 ft of sewer pipe so just buy a 10ft extension and caps for the ends when storing. Here is what I have.

Thank you for the explanations and especially the photographs of the components. I followed your suggestions and expect the system will work perfectly. Larry

Glad I could help. I had to make a few trips to the store to get right, however I really love the set up now. Really easy to do the nasty sewer job.

PM me if you have any more questions.

Marc

I cut one end off and fed the hose through the black pipe then reconnected the end using a 3" hose clamp. So far so good. I also carry a 10' extentionhose in case I can't get close enough to the dump pit.

I was completely confused by the swivel pipe. Thought some engineer had a bad day and ignored it for the first two months. Then I happened to be at the dump station the same time as another camper with the pipe, when I saw how he used it, (and he was certainly willing to answer my noob questions), the light bulb came on so to speak. Now I love it and wonder why folks without the system don't cut a hole in the bottom of their wet bay and add the PVC pipe. it's Brilliant as a Britt would say.
